With Quinton McCown sitting out with a season-ending injury and sophomore quarterback Andrew Olson as his replacement, the Yellowjackets played from behind all night long and didn’t score until the fourth quarter in the Western Athletic Conference finale against Patterson on Friday.
However, Hilmar had already secured a playoff spot and will play at Escalon High (9-1) in the first round of the Division IV playoffs at 7 p.m. on Friday night.
The Yellowjackets (8-2, 3-2 WAC) had a 26-0 deficit before Olson ran in a 1-yard score in the fourth quarter.
