Hilmar girls golf tastes first postseason run
October 31, 2009

After a successful year, the Hilmar High girls golf team and coach Ty Pettigrew participated in their first playoffs, with this being the D-V Championships at Stevinson Ranch, the Yellowjackets’ home course.
They entered the match knowing that their chance of advancing was very slim, considering that only the top team would advance to the Masters Tournament, in addition to the top three individuals.
The Yellowjackets still had a memorable time, thanks in part to gusty winds and nearly “unplayable conditions.”
Hilmar shot a 713 to finish fifth, two strokes ahead of last-place Calaveras High.
Courtney Youngborg was the top Hilmar golfer, finishing with a 125. She was followed by Alyssa McFaddin (133), Keeley Pettigrew (136), Katy Handley (147) and Janet Jones (172).
